Our Lady of Mount Carmel School

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a devoted Catholic institution that integrates intellectual, social, and spiritual, together with academic excellence, from grades K through eight.

Mount Carmel School partnered with Newport Renewables to obtain two grants for a 45 kW solar array, and design and build the system after receiving all municipal and utility approvals. The 160-panel array was completed and turned online in September 2015. The solar array is expected to generate 59,500 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, providing 95% of the school’s annual electricity consumption. The system will offset the equivalent of 46.1 tons of carbon dioxide annually, and generate enough clean energy to power 4.4 homes each year.
